CHRISTMAS LIGHTS FOR LOANHEAD
If you have passed through Fountain Green over the Christmas period, hopefully you will have noticed the new lights on the town's Christmas Tree and the new coloured festoon lighting around the Green.
These developments mark the beginning of a programme to renew and expand Loanhead's festive lighting display. As Midlothian Council has no funding available for projects of this nature, Loanhead Community Development Association (LCDA) has taken on the challenge to raise the money required to brighten up the town centre for the festive season.
It may take two or three years to achieve our goal but hopefully improvements can be made on an annual basis. Donations towards the cost of new lights are invited and can be made to LCDA at any time. Please contact us for more information.

Christmas Card
We have produced a Loanhead Christmas Card featuring a winter scene at the Memorial Arch at the Memorial Park, The Loan (as illustrated). The card is on sale now (50p each or 5 for £2) with proceeds from sales helping us to fund projects such as the purchase of new Christmas Lights for the town. The cards are on sale at Loanhead Library and Loanhead Community Learning Centre. They are also available through any of the LCDA Committee members. To arrange to have cards delivered to any address in Loanhead please contact Alan McLaren (0131 440 3830).
NEIGHBOURHOOD PLAN REVIEW
Following a public consultation which involved a questionnaire being distributed to all homes in Loanhead in the summer of 2014, the Review of the Neighbourhood Plan for Loanhead has been completed. A copy of the full report can be downloaded here. (open word file)
In the current financial climate, Midlothian Council has indicated it is unable to provide any funds to upgrade and replace the town's limited and ageing Christmas lighting display. Loanhead Community Development Association (LCDA) has therefore embarked on what we envisage will be a 3 – 4 year project to gradually improve and extend Loanhead's seasonal display.
The project has commenced with the purchase of new lighting for use on the town's Christmas tree and new festoon lighting for use around Fountain Green. Funds have been raised by LCDA at various events including a recent Race Night. We hope we will receive the support of many in the town to raise further funds over the next few years as we strive to make further improvements, eventually resulting in a display which the town can be proud of and which will rank alongside the best elsewhere in Midlothian.
